We had such wonderful talks in church today. One was on Charity and I wish I had the text to read again. He spoke about the need to fill our lives with it, and spoke of its different attributes. The scriptures speak of the importance of Charity. The Bible dictionary says, "Charity is the highest, noblest, strongest kind of love, not merely affection; the pure love of Christ. It is never used to denote alms or deeds or benevolence, although it may be a prompting motive.
1st Corinthians chapter 13 contains a great discription. basically it says that Charity is:
Love - for God, others and ourselves
Patience - with others and whatever comes our way in life
Kindness - to others as well as with ourselves
Humility - self esteem and lack of pride. We need to know that all humans are brothers and sisters.
Purity of action and thought
Rejoice in truth
Bear what comes our way
Believe - in God and his teachings
Hope - I must believe and hope that life will ultimately be well worth the struggles
These are the thought of my heart as I read the many scriptures on Charity. This is who I want to be. This is freedom and joy!
About Me
- Gentle Waters
- I love children though, having never married, I have none of my own and must borrow from others. For years I taught in primary. That is the program in our church that is for the children.
